Continuous Improvement
- Implement a new crime and disorder reporting system from April 2003 using a standard reporting form used by all bus operators and Merseytravel staff. This form was piloted during the recent joint operation described earlier. This information will be provided to a central data analyst along with existent data such as shelter damage, crime data and rail industry statistics
- Launch the new system and the report form ahead of April 2003 to all operators and drivers and provide training to drivers as to why the information is required
- Prior to this launch we will develop data sharing protocols
- Provide feedback from the information provided in the form of posters/newsletters to staff, quarterly reports to the TravelSafe Partnership Board and ongoing analysis to assess quickly when problems are developing
- Support moves to include a Public Transport code in the Home Office Police Recording System
Once this system, is fully implemented we will set Key Performance Indicators for the remaining part of the strategy period which will incorporate the existent targets set out in this strategy. This new system will certainly lead to an increase in reporting which, linked to changes in Police recording rules, will initially appear to show that crime and disorder are increasing.
Additionally we will aim to compare our performance with other similar initiatives across the country and draw good practice from them whilst promoting our successes.
We will also undertake an annual performance monitoring exercise that will include community inputs and use survey material. The membership of the TravelSafe Partnership Board will be reviewed every year. We also will continue to ensure that the initiative links into other local, regional and national targets, plans and strategies and seek funding for new initiatives from external sources whilst continuing to support initiatives from mainstream budgets.
