Mersey Tunnels

There are two seperate tunnels providing a road link between Liverpool and Wirral. This link operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Kingsway Tunnel links Liverpool (at Scotland Road) and Wallasey (at M53). The Queensway Tunnel links Liverpool (city centre) with Birkenhead (at A41).

Fast Tag

The Fast Tag service offers a faster, cheaper method of travel through either Tunnel. It is a prepayment system that ensures all travel is as convenient as possible, and allows users to review detailed journeys via a secure website.

Concessionary Travel

Mersey Tunnels currently operate a concessionary travel scheme for eligible applicants. This scheme is separate from the National Travel Concessionary Scheme.

To qualify the person must be in receipt of the following:

Disabled Persons Parking (Blue) Badge and;
A letter from the Benefits Agency confirming receipt of either the higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance; or the higher rate of Attendance Allowance; or the mobility supplement of the War Pension.
